A rookie solo artist, this Bajan beauty has been the universally recognized ‘Queen of Soca’ since she captured multiple carnival titles as the voice of Square One in the late 90s. By 2000 she had permanently expanded soca’s musical parameters with “Faluma,” the biggest anthem of the millennium. Her 2006 look, embodied in the hit “Roll It Gal,” trades Square One’s organic sound for trancey synths and bounce rhythms that are equal parts ringbang and 808 clap. But her persona- a deadly combination of in-your-face sexuality and regal confidence-- shines through with equal force on any beat she rides.
